Dr John Thornley PhD DHP(NC) MNHC UKCP(H)

John Thornley joined Mind and Body in 1995 after establishing his first practice in Draycott, Derbyshire.

Relaxing!

John's original training was in physics and the engineering sciences, having been a designer in electronic systems and an engineering physicist for approximately ten years.

In late 1989 John began studying for his doctorate at Loughborough University, which he attained early in March 1993.

(Yes, a REAL one!)

John then trained extensively with the National College of Hypnosis and Psychotherapy to ADHP level and was a fully registered member of the National Register of Hypnotherapists and Psychotherapists (NRHP) from early 1996 until December 2004.

John also served on the then Governing Council of the NRHP. In 2004 John left the NRHP to join the National Hypnopsychotherapy Council (NHPC), and is now a member of the Executive Committee. John has also been a full member of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) since 1998.

Since 1996, John has trained in other modalities including Rational Emotive Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprogramming, Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) and Educational Kinesiology (Edu-K) and continues to add to his knowledge through “Continuing Professional Development”; something which is expected of professional therapists. John practices to the standards of the NHPC and UKCP.

John supervises other therapists to UKCP guidelines and standards, but regrets no longer has any extra capacity to offer training due to a busy practice.

John works full time at the Loughborough practice during normal office hours.

If you would like to see John, to make an appointment or would like some advice in general, or in particular considering therapy, please telephone the usual number 0845 222 0280 during office hours. You call is confidential. Always.
